Corey proceeded to block-sand the driver's door inside the shop to achieve a flat and smooth surface all the way across the skin of the door.

Next on the list to be ditched were the factory side markers located at the base of each front fender. Again, tape was laid over the opening and traced with a marker to create a template to cut out the necessary metal to complete the modification.

The tape template for the side marker filler plate was laid down on a piece of metal and traced in preparation for cutting.

The metal filler plate for the side marker was test-fitted before welding began.

Tack-welded in place, Ron lightly beat the filler piece into a flat formation to prepare it for permanent welding.

Satisfied with the position of the filler plate, Ron welded it up, forever closing the side marker opening.

After the side marker filler plate was welded in, the welds were cleaned up with the grinder before moving onto the finished bodywork.

Ron welded the wheelwell trim mounting holes up to achieve a cleaner appearance on the inside edge of the fender well openings.

With the fender flipped over, Jason used a plasma cutter to notch the inside for additional tire clearance. When you lay a truck as low as we plan on laying Red Rocker, this is a must. A 4-inch radius was used to provide enough clearance for the front 20-inch wheels we planned to use.

At the area where the inner fender structure meets the fenderwell opening, a cut-off wheel was used for trimming the necessary meat, as the plasma cutter would have sliced right through to the outside of the fender.

Nathan sanded a bit on one of the fenders after filler was applied to even out the surface. After he was satisfied with the finish, a coat of finishing putty was applied and more block sanding commenced.

The fender was block-sanded to remove imperfections and to get the metal flat and smooth before it entered the booth for primer.

The '73-'87 C10s are famous for developing rust in the rear quarter panels right behind the rear tires. After inspecting our project, the HHR crew found some and cut it out.

A metal filler panel was fabricated to repair our rusted quarter panel section and was welded in position.

Out back, the factory taillight openings were welded shut using these fabricated filler plates.
