The tonneau cover market has come a long way from the early days of vinyl covers that required 100 snaps to be drilled into the sides of your truck's bed. Actually, if you unsnapped them and re-snapped them too many times, they would inevitably break. It didn't sound like fun to us. Thankfully, bringing tonneau technology to current standards is Gaylord's new TL-Series bedcovers. Gaylord's latest bedcovers require no tools to install and only a Phillips screwdriver to adjust the lock mechanism. We slipped into the installation bay of Gaylord's as they rolled a brand-new '07 Chevrolet Silverado inside for a local dealer. This install took no time at all; we actually made it longer by having the technician stop and hold poses for us so that we could cover the installation properly.Follow along as this Chevy gets the James Bond treatment and goes undercover.

This is it. These are all of the parts necessary to make a TL-Series Gaylord cover go onto your truck's bed. |
These are the tools required to get the tonneau cover installed. We'll list them here for you: your hands. A screwdriver could be used, should you need to adjust the lock mechanism for proper actuation after the installation |

The installation began with the under bedside mount of the EZ-Grip clamp-on system. |
The corner bedrail mount was set into place, then screwed to the rear mount, which effectively sandwiched the two parts together with the bedrail as the "meat." |

You can see the completed EZ-Grip bedcorner/rail mount assembly simply set into place. We followed up by placing the driver-side components into position. |
The rear clamp-on system mounts carry the rotary latch catch arm. The installation tech at Gaylord's loosened up the catch arm to make it easier to get it adjusted, once the tonneau was in position. |

It took two people to set the lid into position on the bed. With one fell swoop, the lid was tilted up so the forward catch arms could be slid into the pivots. |
Since the lid was already in position, our technician set each EZ-Assist Spring Arm onto the tonneau's pivot pins and the rear clamp's pins. |

A spring clip slides through the pins and ensures the spring arm does not come off its mount. | |
