1948 Chevy 5 Window - Buildup

1948 Chevy 5 Window Bodywork Cab
The freshly painted cab was set outside to bake in the sun, which accelerated the curing process.
1948 Chevy 5 Window Bodywork Chassis
Here, we can see the entire undercarriage before the cab was installed. A well-stepped chas-sis allows the Coddington/BF Goodrich tires to tuck deep into the fenders. The '91 LT5 engine was bolted to the engine mounts. A set of Corvette ZR1 long-tube racing headers flow into a stainless steel exhaust system. Notice the smaller, tubular subframe housing the uncaged torque tube driveshaft.
1948 Chevy 5 Window Bodywork Overhead Hoist
An overhead hoist was used to aid in lowering the cab onto the assembled chassis.

Before lowering the cab onto the hoist, it was carefully aligned with the mounting pads.

The custom-fabricated stepped frame secured the cab as low as possible without channeling it.
1948 Chevy 5 Window Bodywork Lt5 Engine
Many people say you can't make an LT5 engine look good. Well, checkout Conundrum's LT5 that is cradled between its framerails. The engine block was given a couple of coats of DuPont Titanium Frost, then coated in a matt clear finish. The cylinder heads, valve covers, intake, and plenum were coated with a DuPont Desert Green, then given a matt clear finish coat. The custom-made inner fenders, firewall, and radiator core support were given multiple coats of the lighter Titanium paint, creating a ceramic-like finish. How about the radiator stainless steel hard-line? The grille was fabricated out of an 1/8-inch aluminum, then dimple-drilled to achieve maximum airflow.
1948 Chevy 5 Window Bodywork Cab Interior
Dynamat was laid throughout the entire cab interior to eliminate the majority of engine and road noise. Then, all of the electrical and audio sound components were installed, before installing the custom dash.
