Custom Paint Jobs - 2009 Paint Trends & Gems

One way to make onlookers do a double-take is to add pearls with the airbrushing in between the two-tone. This Chevy features two bold yellow stripes that were then pinstriped. Those stripes house the airbrushed skulls with pearl to make them stand out with the right sunlight.

Beautiful one-color paint schemes can be equally as impressive as flames, graphics, or a two-tone. The key is to spray a color that will look amazing in the sunlight.

Take this orange GMC, without sun on the truck, it looks nice and clean, but with the sun shining on the truck, it pops off the pavement. Nicely done.

If your truck came with an awesome color from the factory, such as our '09 Ram with its Inferno Red Crystal Pearl, the best remedy could be painting some pieces. We painted the chrome grille shell, handles, mirrors, front bumper, and rear bumper.

Just like the orange GMC, when the sun hits our solid-color truck, the paint pops. With the sun setting, the paint looks like it is on fire. Cool touches such as the painted wheel trim rings adds to the custom look.

Flames
Getting hot in 2003, real-fire flames are still around and pioneers like Kurt Grimes are now combining colors to make the realistic flames really sick. Appearing on our issue 3 cover, his Chevy is a great example of how real-fire flames can grab attention.

Hot-rod wispy flames are another classic. This Dodge used two colors not typically combined to really stand out. Lime green as a base with a purple-to-royal blue fade flame combo prove, that while they may not be for everyone, flames are sweet.

Our friends at Pro Motorsports went crazy on this '09 Tundra. Using a grinding wheel, they taped off two lines and starting throwing sparks. The graphic uses two angles to make one seamless graphic.

Candy apple red was then sprayed on the rest of the Toyota to create a look that leaves you scratching your head. Talk about hours and hours of work, sheesh.
