  • 2007 Chevy Silverado Audio Transformation Pioneer Tweeter
We ran into a little snag when we were looking for a location to mount the tweeter. The Pioneer tweeter would cover the factory hole in the A-pillar trim, but not the two holes for mounting the grille. The solution was to use plumber's tape to mount the tweeter in front of the Pioneer 63/4-inch component. Since the factory front speaker was just as deep as the rears pictured in #14, there was plenty of room.

  • 2007 Chevy Silverado Audio Transformation Dash Face
The dash face was pulled out and the wires for traction control and the 12-volt accessory jacks were disconnected. Two screws held in the climate control panel, and four held in the head unit. Pete disconnected the factory harness and set the head unit aside.

  • 2007 Chevy Silverado Audio Transformation Microphone
The head unit is Bluetooth compatible, and it has its own microphone. It needs to be in the open because it has noise-canceling ports that can't be shrouded. The mic came with a visor clamp, but this double-sided tape method is much cleaner.

  • 2007 Chevy Silverado Audio Transformation Factory Harness
Pete connected the factory harness to the OnStar adapter and Pioneer harness. You can see the wires that were run behind the dash and into the head unit area. This operation was actually easier than we thought it would be, as an extra-large zip tie was used to feed them through.

  • 2007 Chevy Silverado Audio Transformation Pac Adapter
After the rear speaker wires and amp on/off wire were spliced in, the PAC adapter was plugged in so that the steering wheel controls could be retained. Then the wires were pushed into the dash to make room for the head unit.
