Sam then moved to the table saw and created this square sub box for the MTX sub. An upper panel was built to support the top layer that would later be covered in suede and cut to fit the cargo area perfectly.

This top panel was cut out of particle board and after getting the exact measurements locked in, Sam covered it in black suede. Also, notice the oval cutout around the square sub mount. This piece will be wrapped in red suede and the overall look with be clean and custom.

Check out how great and yet simple the box looked. It was now time to fire up the HHR and listen to some tunes. The Chevy sounded great and the highs were balanced with bass pounding from the MTX Thunder Square sub.

Remember, our goal was to keep the cargo area functional and Sam was able to lay the plastic cargo panel over the sub box to keep it protected. At shows or events, we can simply pull the panel out and have a custom box ready to be seen.
