Finally, the top of the backing... Finally, the top of the backing paper was slowly removed. It should be pulled back straight against the body to avoid pulling up on the graphic. This part of the project was... This part of the project was completed with one of SLP's "RSX" graphics at the front of each fender. We also swapped out the wheels... We also swapped out the wheels on the truck, and ditched the factory-stamped steel rims and rubber for a set of factory take-off 20-inch rims and tires. This simple, relatively inexpensive swap, along with the SLP enhancements, made for a dramatically improved look Then we moved to Stenod Performance,... Then we moved to Stenod Performance, where the original exhaust system and exhaust manifolds were unbolted and removed. SLP Performance's headers... SLP Performance's headers were gorgeous, polished, and ceramic-coated pieces with thick flanges. There was plenty of room under... There was plenty of room under the Silverado's hood to maneuver, so the headers slipped in without a problem-you won't hear the guys at SLP say that about, say, a Camaro. Bolted in and snugged down,... Bolted in and snugged down, the new SLP headers looked great; and with large primary tubes and smooth bends, it is no wonder how they make more power. SLP included the necessary... SLP included the necessary inserts required to mate them with the factory Y-pipe. With the headers and Y-pipe... With the headers and Y-pipe secured, the after-cat exhaust was slipped into place. Like the headers, the mufflers are polished stainless steel-almost too pretty to stick under the truck. The SLP exhaust allows for... The SLP exhaust allows for straight-back outlets or angled at-the-corners outlets. We opted for the angled look, which we thought looked a little classier. This required cutting the supplied outlet tubes, however. Next came the rocker arm swap,... Next came the rocker arm swap, which was easy, too, thanks to the efficient design of GM's Gen III/Gen IV engines. After popping off the tops of the valve covers, the rocker arms were loosened and removed as a single unit on a factory tray. It's difficult to see the... It's difficult to see the difference between SLPs rocker arms (right) and the stock pieces. The giveaway is the relocated oil hole at the top, which indicates the different fulcrum point of SLP's arms. The 1.85-ratio rockers provided the effect of a higher-lift camshaft.
