Chevy 383ci - Stroke It!
The bottom end was finished.
A healthy amount of lube was applied before inserting the roller lifter into the lifter bore.
Matt torqued down the lifter valley "spider," which has eight-legs, to hold the roller lifters in their bores, meanwhile the "dog bones" keep them from rotating.
After installing the cylinder head gaskets, Matt installed the aluminum cylinder head, as he aligned it with the location pins on the block. Each cylinder head bolt was torqued to 70 lb-ft.
With a fist full of Pro Comp PC2326 pushrods, Matt carefully inserted each one, while making sure they were aligned in the lifter cups.
The 1.52 roller rocker arms were installed onto the 3/8-inch rocker studs.
The correct intake- and exhaust-valve lash was adjusted and locked in.
After installing the intake manifold gaskets and laying a good healthy silicone bead across the block ends, the aluminum intake manifold was carefully laid in place between the two cylinder heads.
The Pro Comp HEI distributor was lowered and aligned with the slot in the oil pump shaft gear.
After the cork valve-cover gasket was laid in place on the aluminum cylinder head, Matt dropped on and secured the M&R valve covers.
Here's an assembled M&R PN HP383 383ci stroker. Where are the dyno numbers? How about 480 hp at 5,600 rpm and 450 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm!
