Our new basic budget bolt-on series has been a reader favorite since we introduced it midyear in 2008. We all understand the importance of saving a buck and we also know that each of you want the best product to customize your truck. The engine is the heart of every ride and if it's not running its best, it won't deliver an entertaining driving experience. A key to making any engine run its best is the maximum airflow being sucked into the combustion chamber. When our fleet '02 GMC Envoy was in need of a new air intake, we contacted the airflow aficionados at Airaid for a complete kit. After tracking down the kit we needed, a couple of clicks at SummitRacing.com had our air intake in the mail. Shopping at Summit Racing was easy thanks to several different search functions, including searching by make and model, engine, or even brand. Our intake was delivered fast and our experience was first-rate. Included in the kit was a washable premium filter, plastic air inlet, and heatshield. From The Driver SeatThe intake kit was one of the easiest we've installed as the only required tools were two screwdrivers, a 7/16-inch wrench, and a 10mm socket/ratchet combo. In less than 30 minutes we had renewed confidence in our 4.2L I-6 thanks to the new Airaid intake. The truck drove much better after the install and we appreciated the better throttle response and great sound. No mileage numbers as of yet, but we're expecting at least 1MPG better. Not bad for under $250.
