Let's face it, many problem areas in custom trucks don't rear their ugly heads until the manufacturer has already built hundreds of thousand of trucks and SUVs. For instance, Ford's Coil on Plug (CoP) system provides instant spark to the plugs for better performance and greater efficiency, however it is also a weak point for SOHC 4.6L and 5.4L V-8 engines. Water and debris seeps past the rubber boot and after time, corrodes the plug terminal contacts and poof—you just lost a cylinder. This is a huge problem as there are so many of these Ford trucks and SUVs on the road. Motorcraft coils average $60-$86 depending on the vendor. With eight coils, this problem adds up quickly.

Thankfully, MSD has a performance upgrade for the OE ignition time bombs. Featuring MSD's patented winding system for the primary and secondary windings, the Blaster 2 CoP coils are a direct bolt-in replacement. Creating higher voltage and spark energy, your Ford SOHC V-8 will run smoother and start up faster. Want even better news? When we called up Summit Racing, the entire set of eight only set us back $348, or just $43.50 each. Odds are, if you're driving an F-150 from '99-'04, you're going to drop a coil and need to replace it. Step up to a new level of performance with MSD's Blaster 2 coils.

From The Driver Seat
Our experience with the MSD coils couldn't have been much better. Each coil fit perfectly and as soon as we turned the key, the 4.6L V-8 fired to life. The truck idles nice and smooth now and we swear the throttle response has improved.
