The '05 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is a very fast street truck right out of the box. The snake's venom produces a neck-snapping 525 lb-ft of torque and 500 hp. The SRT accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds and covers the 1/4-mile in 13.7 seconds at 130.1 mph. The V-10 Viper engine has a typical generic airbox located behind the passenger headlight and its stuffed with a flat air filter screen and draws air from the inner front fenderwell on the passenger side—not exactly in the external air stream. The SRT-10 trucks come with a factory hoodscoop and we wondered "why not fit the hoodscoop with an air intake snorkel?" This functional ram air induction system would increase both torque and hp tremendously.
Volant beat us to the design punch and to our surprise, they already had a cool air intake designed to increase the torque and hp numbers of the V-10. The system's unique snorkel design draws cool air directly from the factory hoodscoop. A Pro-5 air filter, with four pleated layers of cotton and gauze and one layer of polyurethane, is supported by aluminum wire mesh to keep its shape. Molded air tubes link the airscoop snorkel to the airbox, which in turn connects them to the throttle-body. This Volant cool air intake system has recorded up to a 36hp gain on the dyno.
Traders Sport Trucks in Santa Fe Springs, California, let us observe as Ox Higgins installed a Volant cool air intake system on a Dodge Ram SRT-10. As Ox wrenched, we snapped a few photos.

After installing the Volant cool air intake system to the SRT-10 8.3L V-10 powerplant, the throttle response was instantaneous, all while producing a noticeable increase of torque and power. The V-10 engine pulled strong through the entire powerband.
