2006 Chevy Colorado Modifications - Silver Bullet
Brian removed the plastic mesh from the grille mask.
After trimming the grille opening with a disc sander, Brian checked the new Carriage Works polished billet grille insert for fitment.
Using mounting brackets and hardware supplied in the Carriage Works polished billet grille kit, Brian mounted the lower grille insert.
With both the upper and lower Carriage Works inserts secured, Brian reinstalled the front grille mask and headlights back onto the Colorado.
The mighty 2.8L four-cylinder engine needed all the help it could get when it came to torque and power.
To help improve the air intake, Brian installed a Volant cold air intake system. The Volant cold air intake features a Volant cross-link polyethylene filter box that is designed to insulate and protect the Volant pleated filter from pulling hot air from the engine compartment, cool air increase horsepower. The air duct was sculptured to give the engine a less restrictive passage to breathe. Large diameters with unique bends and smooth transitions create maximum horsepower and quicker throttle response. A washable and reusable high-grade filter media element reduces air restriction that makes increased engine horsepower, while Precision filter pleats optimize airflow throughout the intake system.
The factory air intake system was disassembled, starting with disconnecting the air intake tube. Then, the throttle-body air intake resonator box was removed and discarded and Brian removed the factory filter box and filter.
The factory MAF sensor was removed from the original air intake tube, and then installed onto the new cold air intake tube.
Brian installed the new filter box and velocity tube, both made from durable cross-link polyethylene.
The air filter element is washable and reuseable. It was secured to the air intake tube with a stainless steel hose clamp inside the sealed airbox. Brian secured the airbox lid, which completed the air intake install.
To complete the airflow equation, Brian replaced the factory exhaust with a much better flowing Volant cat-back exhaust system. The Volant 304 exhaust system was made from polished mandrel-bent stainless steel from exhaust system pipe flange to the double-walled exhaust tip.
Brian fitted the new exhaust flange to the factory flange during the final exhaust assembly.
