The Blue Oval was well-represented at this year’s event with three second-generation Lightnings. George Dias’ 2002 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is no stranger to performance competition, having competed in numerous autocross events, including Good Guys, the American Auto-X series, and SCCA, where it placed second in its regional class. The Lightning’s supercharged V-8 gets an extra boost from a ZEX nitrous system, an SCT tuner, a custom dyno tune by Amazon Tuning Solutions in Mooresville, North Carolina, and a Flowmaster exhaust. The truck has a custom aluminum driveshaft going to a 9.75-inch rear end with a 3.73 ratio. The suspension is all business with front Ground Force 2-inch drop springs, Bilstein HPS 1000 shocks, a Hotchkis front sway bar, and a NAPA adjustable camber kit. Out back, the truck gets Ground Force 4-inch drop shackles, a Hotchkis sway bar, Lakewood traction bars, QA1 shocks, and Belltech shock extensions. Rubber meets the road with Nitto NT05 295/45-18 tires.
