The small truck, big engine combo proved to be a popular one at this year’s Throwdown, with Javier Hernandez joining Roger Pineda in bringing a 6.0L-powered short-bed Silverado to the competition. Hernandez also added 15 psi of boost to equation with a KB racing Borg Warner turbo kit, with a custom Iskenderian cam, Comp Cams pushrods, and ARP head studs. The high-horse mechanical orchestra is conducted by a custom Cunningham Motorsports tune. Spent gasses exhale through a 3.5-inch Magnaflow exhaust. Power gets to the pavement through a 3.73 rear axle with an Eaton TrueTrac. Suspension is a McGaughy’s lowering kit featuring a 16-inch drop spindle with QA1 shocks. The rear gets hunkered down with Smith Racing “Assassin” traction bars and Calvert Racing 9-way adjustable shocks. The truck’s ready to hit the strip with Nitto 421Q front tires and M&H Racemaster rear drag radials.
