The 4th annual Nitto Tire THROWDOWN presented by McGaughys is set to take place this Friday, May 31, in Southern California. A truck that looks good is cool. A truck that looks good and performs well is awesome. The theory behind Throwdown is to woo truck drivers away from the show ‘n shine parking lot and into the driver’s seat of their trucks in order to test man and machine, while having tons of fun of course. Expert and novice drivers alike have tested their skills and at the end of the day, can attest that they learned something new.

This year’s lineup is set to be competitive, with many new participants and some returning with better-equipped trucks. A wide variety of custom trucks have competed in Throwdown, including late-model fullsize trucks, classic trucks, mid-size and mini trucks, SUVs, and full-on purpose-built trucks. Dan Ward's own Novakane, a fan favorite, will be on hand, as well as our Ford EcoBoost project and the long anticipated return of our Ford Lightning project. McGaughy's new project Sierra will also be on hand.

There will be two categories - race and street - into which the trucks will be placed after tech inspection. Five scored events – the quarter mile, stop-box challenge (braking event), 600-foot slalom, 1.2-mile road course, and a show-n-shine – will challenge each driver and truck to determine this year’s West Coast Throwdown champion. Unfortunately this occasion is not open to the public, so stay tuned for coverage of this performance-truck event of the year!
