A black truck carries itself in a way that subtly screams of high class, business, authority, power and elegance. Black is the darkest of dark colors, the utter absence of light. It is mysterious and menacing. The blacked-out – or “murdered out” style for truck customizing has become very popular over the past few years. In fact, the popularity of this dark-sided customization craze prompted Truckin to bust through all barriers to present a special Black Edition Truckin Issue 9 to its 2012 collection. Ram Trucks – like Truckin did last year - has now capitalized on the blacked-out obsession.

Ram has introduced a new special edition “Black Express” Model for 2013. Distinguished by an all-black exterior void of body-side badging, the Ram Black Express features cast-aluminum 20-inch black wheels with silver center caps and lugs, a black front fascia with vertically oriented fog lamps, a black grille surround, a black rear bumper and black Ram badges on the tailgate and grille. This blacked-out, sinister-looking Ram will have projector headlamps with black interior bezels (so cool) and the taillamps will include black finishes. Available in regular cab, quad cab or crew cab, and in two- and four-wheel-drive, the price tag will start at $26,955 plus $1,095 destination charges.

A blacked-out truck, right off the showroom floor? Yes, please! Ramtrucks.com sums up the concept of the Black Express perfectly: “Our black sheep is more of a wolf”; “Get attention and don’t give it back”; “Black on black on black”; "We had one rule: if it can be black, make it black"; and "Everyone has a dark side. But some are darker than others." We like the sound of that!

The Ram 1500 Express is aimed at younger, first-time buyers who want a truck that they can make their own through customization. The Express comes with a 395hp, 410 lb.-ft. of torque 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 with Fuel Save Technology and is available with 4-corner air suspension. The Express includes all the features on the Tradesman model, plus 20-inch wheels, chrome-tipped dual exhaust, color matched grille surround, front fascia and rear bumpers, fog lamps, six-speed automatic transmission, and carpet.

Summer 2013 just got brighter. Or should we say - darker?
